The event at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, involving George Washington, shows how the struggles faced there pushed Washington and his officers to support a strong federal government under the Constitution. This document is the basis of America’s freedom today. However, we can question how much of the Constitution has been weakened since the 18th century, especially with the rise in crime and terrorism that Washington’s time could not predict. This has become more evident three hundred years later.

The problem at Valley Forge (1777–1778) was the severe suffering of Washington’s troops in Pennsylvania. This hardship was not due to a lack of resources but was caused by a weak and ineffective government. This situation is similar to the challenges faced during the presidencies of Obama and Biden. At that time, the U.S. had a government that lacked strength and was unable to address important issues. It failed to engage with industry and manage government deficits. Poor decisions regarding Iran and illegal immigration also added to the nation’s challenges, especially as many people crossed the borders.

Until Donald Trump became president in 2016 and again on January 20, 2025, America was becoming a stronger and safer nation. The government is now better able to manage finances. However, rising inflation is a major concern for every American, affecting the cost of groceries, rent or mortgages, and credit interest.

During the Articles of Confederation (1777-1778), the Continental Congress could not tax citizens. This meant it had to ask individual states for money, food, and clothing, which the states often denied or delayed, especially during tough times like Valley Forge. George Washington felt the frustration of this disorganized system, which almost harmed his army. He spent months sending urgent letters to Congress, understanding that a country cannot defend itself or work effectively without strong central leadership.
In the twenty-first century, Trump aimed to rebuild America and restore respect from both its citizens and other nations. During his first two terms as president, he suspended many policies from Presidents Obama and Biden, calling them “bad business decisions…and a bad administration.”

America welcomes people and businesses from all over the world, especially in commerce and manufacturing. According to AI Google, foreign multinational companies operate about 20,000 to 25,000 business locations, called affiliates, in the United States. These affiliates make up roughly 2% of all U.S. firms (as of May 21, 2026, AI Google).
President Trump has brought many manufacturing jobs back to the United States during his second term in office. However, many Americans struggle to make ends meet, as employers want to pay as little as possible while workers’ earnings fail to keep up with the high cost of living. High production costs affect every industry, no matter how many tax breaks and government incentives are provided. The next challenge is how well the President addresses these issues at home, especially since he claims that the oil passageway of Hormuz is open for business.
